Summer Camps

To our Stamford Peace community,

We hope this finds you and your loved ones well — healthy and optimistic that the worst of the pandemic may finally be in our rearview mirror.  If you’re anything like us, the prospect of your children being able to escape “quarantine” is very exciting, but at the same time you’re balancing against that some hesitancy to resume normal activities too much or too soon.

Please know that we are with you in your mixed emotions.  And with that in mind, we want to provide you this detailed description of the steps we will be taking to resume our programming this summer and in the months ahead.  Consistent with the State of Connecticut’s recently announced summer camp guidelines, we will be adhering to the following protocols at all of our summer camp sessions and other summer programs:

  • Summer camps will be limited to 30 children — with registration taking place on a “first-come, first-serve” basis. Groups will be broken up into no more than 10 children per group, with one counselor assigned to each group.
  • Social distancing strategies will be implemented.
  • If possible, we expect to have the same parent/guardian drop off and pick up their child each day.  Check-in will take place outside of the gym. Parents will not be permitted to stay for camp. Campers will be dismissed to their parent/ guardian through the outside gym doors.
  • Enhanced health screening will be required;
  • Everyone's temperature will be taken via infrared thermometer upon arrival each day; and anyone with a temperature of 100 or higher will be sent home. Campers will then be given hand sanitizer or the option to wash their hands in the bathroom.
  • Each day, campers will be asked if they or anyone with whom they live have had a recent fever, cough or sore throat; and/or whether anyone with whom they are living is presently being quarantined or otherwise ill or exposed to Covid-19.  If so, that camper will be sent home.
  • Lunch must be brought from home.  We will no longer be taking lunch orders.
  • Campers will be encouraged to bring their own water bottles,  with names clearly marked.  Campers will not be permitted to to use on-site water fountains.
  • Cash will no longer be able to be accepted on-site.  Only credit card transactions will be permitted.
  • Hand and respiratory hygiene will be implemented:
  • Campers must wash hands before arriving to camp and/or upon arrival.
  • "Sanitation stations" will be set up for use by our campers and staff (with things like Purell and wipes).
  • Always cover your cough, and sneeze into your elbow. Wash hands thoroughly afterwards.
  • Keep hands free from your eyes and mouth.
  • Coaches and Stamford Peace employees will be required to:
    • Wear cloth face coverings.
    • Follow the same health screening and hand and respiratory hygiene as outlined above.
  • Protocols for intensified cleaning and disinfection.  Our staff will wipe down/clean all "high-touch" areas throughout the day.
  • If a child or Stamford Peace staff member who has been present at camp is diagnosed with COVID-19, the camp will promptly notify all families and staff of the exposure. Stamford Peace will report such case immediately to the Connecticut Department of Public Health, as well as to the department of health in the town of residence of the case-patient by telephone on the day of recognition or strong suspicion of the disease.

Rest assured, we are extraordinarily committed to providing a positive and influential summer camp experience; but to doing while making it our top priority to ensure the ongoing health and safety of our players, staff and families.  Thank you for your support and understanding.  We are confident that, together, we can capably navigate these unprecedented and challenging circumstances.

We will continue to keep you updated on our Summer Camps and other programs, including any new information and guidance as and when it is available.
